मण्डल (mandala)

Tibetan Buddhist monks create intricate patterns from colored sand — a practice that can take weeks of painstaking work.

When the mandala is complete, they sweep it away.

The destruction is not tragedy. It is the teaching. Attachment to beautiful things causes suffering. Impermanence is not to be feared but understood.

Draw to place sand. When you're ready, sweep it away. Begin again, or don't.

"This, too, shall pass."
