bubble

A soap film only nanometers thick, yet it holds together a sphere of air. Light waves interfere as they bounce between the inner and outer surfaces, painting rainbows that shift as the film drains.

The colors move because the bubble is always dying. Soap drains downward, the film thins at the top, and eventually—inevitably—it finds a weakness.

Move to create air currents. Click to blow a new bubble. Watch the colors swirl. Don't touch—or do.

Everything this beautiful is temporary.
